Relation: Son of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq; the seventh Imam

Biography

Living under the early Abbasid state's tightening surveillance of the Imams, he was repeatedly imprisoned by Harun al-Rashid and died in a Baghdad prison. Known for his extraordinary forbearance, earning him the title al-Kazim.
